THE CASTING NETWORK LIMITED is an established and respected agency for supporting artists, owned and supervised by Lesley Gogarty (formerly Lesley Reid). This agency has nothing to do with the organisations CastNet, Shooting People or Talent Circle & Casting Network.
If you are an actor/supporting artist, before submitting your details to the agency (online applications only) please ensure you are applying to the correct organisation for your needs!
THE CASTING NETWORK is a recognised agency supplying supporting artists for all media, and Lesley provides a Casting Director service that utilises her unrivalled experience in the Industry.
Agency owner Lesley Gogarty is the most experienced crowd casting specialist in the country, and has trained and worked in the Industry since 1978.
The Casting Network was established in 1999 and is respected by producers and professional artists alike, for negotiating the best rates of pay possible, in a highly competitive and over-subscribed market.
PROVISION OF LOCATION ASSISTANCE AND CROWD 2ND ADs
On productions that have in excess of 1000 crowd days, the agency can provide a member of staff to perform many of the duties of a Crowd 2nd AD including the organisation of costume fittings and liaising with the costume and hair & make-up departments, the signing-in of artists in the morning when the call exceeds 50 people and, where practicable, we can also sign the crowd off at the end of filming.
There may be a charge for this service.
IMPORTANT: PAYMENTS FOR SUPPORTING ARTISTS
On schedules that exceed 1000 crowd days, The Casting Network will liaise with the production accountant to estimate the cost of 50% of the payments for supporting artists, and in order to safeguard the fees for both this agency and the supporting artist, we may ask the production company for a cheque for this amount to offset against the first few invoices. We will then negotiate for further amounts to be placed by the Production Company in our Client Account to offset further invoices. At the end of production, the production company will either forward the balance of payments within 14 days of the end of filming or The Casting Network will refund any excess monies they hold within the same time frame.
On all productions, 10% will be added to all invoices that are not paid within 30 days.
PRODUCTIONS FILMING IN THE LONDON AREA AND AT RECOGNISED STUDIO WITHIN LONDON AND THE HOME COUNTIES
Many traditional and contemporary directors now prefer to audition their background artists in order to reassure themselves that these artists can take direction, and that still look like the photos that they submit for agency brochures and websites!
On productions that have specific requirements or minor parts, we highly recommend that an audition is arranged before filming commences to ensure these specific requirements are approved by the director as early as possible in the filming schedule.
Over the last two years, we have worked in partnership with a small number of personal management agents and non-mainstream agencies and this has positively augmented our already superior service.
This includes children’s agencies that only represent children receiving formal training, an agency for actors with amputated limbs
and model agencies.

ISLE OF MAN RESOURCE - View Credits
Since 2001, THE CASTING NETWORK has created and maintained a resource on the Isle of Man, and has serviced the many productions that choose to film there in order to qualify for the generous financial incentives offered by the Isle of Man Film Commission.
We have established the most comprehensive resource of adults and children on the Island who enjoy participating in film production, and this resource is constantly updated. When filming on the Island, please be aware that there is near full employment and that the majority of 18-21 year olds study off island, or go travelling, so girls and boys in this age group are at a premium. We therefore request that you give us your IOM crowd breakdowns in good time.
Background artists on The IOM are paid in cash, and National Insurance is applicable when weekly earnings exceed the National Insurance Threshold.
Please contact The Isle of Man Department that deals with National Insurance on 01624 685051 for further details.
If part of your filming schedule is in London and the remainder in the Isle of Man, please be aware that THE CASTING NETWORK will only service the Isle of Man schedule if we also service the London schedule. We will not merely service the Isle of Man Schedule if a production company then goes on to use another London agency for the London schedule!!!
Please contact us for current Rates of Pay for supporting artists on The Isle of Man.
